The honorable book was brought before me, of
great quality and quantity, by Rabbi Moshe Weiner (may he live for many
long and good days), called "Sheva Mitzvot HaShem," which is about the
Seven Commandments for the Children of Noah, and is a "Shulhan Aruh"
for all the Torah Laws for Gentiles.
As I skimmed through the pages, I very much
enjoyed seeing how the Rav who wrote this gathered and explained,
intelligently and with sharpness and depth, all the Torah Laws that are
related to and result from this topic, which very few have been
involved in. It seems to me that no one else has come to address it,
and now that this Rav has authored and categorized it, he should be
happy, and happy is his lot, and from Heaven he has merit.
Because of the importance and uniqueness of
this book, and since many of the matters included in it are relevant to
nations whose language is not Hebrew, I see great importance and
benefit in translating the book into the English language. This will
enable multitudes of Gentiles to learn it, and receive maximum benefit
from it. Here I sign with much blessing to the Rav who authored this
book, that he and this book of his should merit to be accepted with
love and affection among the other parts of Torah. The merit of
spreading out and instilling belief in the Creator of the world amongst
all the people of the world, which is the aspect of perfecting the
world in the Kingdom of G-d, should stand for him and his household as
a blessing in every way possible for good, spiritually and materially,
with health, happiness and much joy. Amen, may it be His will.
With great blessing,
Yona Metzger

I saw the good book, well-written and aptly
titled "Sheva Mitzvot HaShem," compiled and authored by the Rabbi and
great scholar, Rabbi Moshe Weiner, may he live for many long and good
days. I have also seen the immense work that was required to explain
all the matters of the Seven Commandments for the Children of Noah, and
this was done very well, written in simple, clear language, so that the
reader can easily comprehend it. I bless him that G-d should send him
success in all his endeavors, to continue in his holy work, and to
author and publish more works in excellent physical health. And may it
be G-d's will that he see blessing in the work of his hands, that he
has prepared for the sake of G-d, blessed be He.
Waiting for G-d's salvation and mercy,

A Purchaser's Comments:
This booklet is a really great prayer guide,
for the new Noahide as well as for those who have been following the
path for some time. I find myself using it every day. It has suggested
prayers and blessings (all Rabbinically authorized) for most - if not
all - of one's needs. It is pocket-sized so you can easily carry it
with you. Everyone should check it out.

Light in the Closet: Torah,
Homosexuality, and the Power to Change
Arthur Goldberg
pub.
Red Heifer Press ('08, 600 pgs.)
This
book has been acknowledged by leading Orthodox Rabbis as a monumental
achievement in analyzing the influences of modern Western society upon
people who find themselves struggling to overcome same-sex attraction
(SSA). The author discusses case histories, and today's agenda-driven
activism vs. universally-relevant Torah morality. It is extensively
researched and presents a most appropriate (and greatly needed)
Torah-based response to this hot-topic issue.
The
book is wide-ranging and addresses 23 categories of "sexual
brokenness," which are sexual behaviors, desires or fantasies that are
inconsistent with the Torah's designation of heterosexual marital
intercourse as pure and holy. It insists that no one of any age should
be denied the right to receive information on, and access to, the known
effective means of gender-reaffirming counseling and treatment for
sexual disorientation. It includes discussions of the relevant Torah
Laws for both Jews and Gentiles (in light of the Noahide Code), and it
indicts the permissive (or even promotive) attitudes about indulgence
in homosexual relations that can now be found in many countries.
The
author serves both as the Director of JONAH (Jews Offering New
Alternatives to Homosexuality, www.jonahweb.org), and the Executive
Secretary of NARTH (National Association for Research and Therapy of
Homosexuality, www.narth.com). These are organizations that work for
the right of all individuals with unwanted SSA to receive effective
therapeutic treatment, and for the right of professionals to offer that
care. Abundant information, including a list of participating local
therapists, is available on these sites.

The Jewish Ethics for
Business and life

Rabbi
Dr. Asher Meir
pub. Ktav ('05, 295 pgs)
Although
the Torah places many more commandments upon Jews than Gentiles in the
area of business dealings, there is an additional realm of universal
ethical and moral guidance
which the Torah tradition provides for all people. This book makes
great strides in setting out these moral foundations, by which every
person can navigate through the ethical dilemas that face us everyday
in the workplace and the marketplace.
From
the book jacket: "[This book] discusses scores of actual questions on
ethical dilemas in business as well as everyday life. The author ...
not only gives answers but also provides a lucid and inspiring
presentation of underlying ethical concepts, with special emphasis on
the insights of Jewish tradition. The discussions sensitize the reader
to ethical concerns in all areas of life, and build a comprehensive
foundation of concepts to help resolve these concerns. In discussing
topics such as marketing, human resources, and fair competition,
attention is given to many up-to-date issues..."

Honor Due to Parents
by Rabbi J. Immanuel Schochet
pub.
Kehot (paperback, 28pgs)
Low price - just $2.95 !
As
a positive Torah Commandment, "Honor your father and mother" is not
included in the Seven Noahide Laws beyond a baseline prohibition of
ridiculing or disgracing ones parents. However, the positive aspect of
honoring parents was also universally recognized by Gentiles as a sound
ethical principle which should be observed within the Torah's
guidelines. Looking deeply into the implications and details of this
Mitzvah, we find a profound religious significance that reaches beyond
the literal context. This brief, provocative booklet explains the
practical as well as the philosophical aspects of its fulfillment.

Americans
adapted by Rabbi
Eliyahu Touger
pub. S.I.E.
The Rebbe's message celebrates the Torah, G-d's
guidelines of eternal truth for the societies of mankind. The essays in
this book are drawn from selected talks in which an identification was
made with the the historical tradition of ethical values and principles
of the Noahide Code, which lie at the heart of American culture. The
Rebbe explains that America's Founding Fathers were G-d-fearing men who
aimed to integrate the principles they gleaned from the Torah into the
core of the unique society they built.

Mind over Matter: the Lubavitcher Rebbe on
Science, Technology and Medicine
Edited and
translated into English and annoted by Arnie Gotfryd Ph.D
From the Overview section, p. xxxv:
The Rebbe possesses an unprecedented
combination of abilities enabling him to resolve Torah-science issues.
Indeed, since Maimonides there probably has not been another Torah
scholar with an encyclopedic knowledge of the sciences and the
philosophy of science comparable to the Rebbe. This only partially
related to the fact that in the 1930's he studied science, philosophy,
and engineering at some of the best universities in Europe - the
Sorbonne, the Polytechnic Institute of Paris, and the University of
Berlin. The academic background, combined with mastery of the nigle (the "open," talmudic meaning of the Torah)
and the nistar (the secret meanings of the Torah) and the
special vision of a tzaddik (righteous person) enables the Rebbe to
resolve the Torah versus science "argument" and put it into the proper
perspective.

Nothing Besides Him
by
Rabbi Manis Friedman
(AUDIO) set
of 7 CD's.
This
audio series, which is now being made available specifically for
self-learning by Noahides, was recorded in live classes. The famous
Rabbi Manis Friedman goes chapter-by-chapter to explain the book "The Gate of Unity and Faith" by
the early Chassidic leader Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi. It explains
some of the most basic theological issues, such as our knowledge of
G-d, how He creates the spiritual and physical realms through the
"Divine Speech", and how He is One with both a higher level and a lower
level of Unity. Truly there is nothing besides G-d, and it is
everyone's sacred duty to study about G-d's essential unity. Now you
can do this in a clear, understandable way.

True Existence
by Rabbi
Shmuel Schneerson (The Rebbe Maharash)
1869 C.E., pub. Kehot (98 pages)
This
Chassidic discourse explains why the false concept of a "sheetuf,"
a "partner" with G-d, is not idolatry. It explains how everything in
the physical realm has a corresponding root and source in the spiritual
realms, and yet physicality itself is created directly by the Essence
of G-d, and not by a cause and effect process.
Review
by Rabbi Moshe Weiner, author of "Sefer Sheva Mitzvot HaShem" and "The
Divine Code":
Synopsis
of the discourse:
The mistaken concept of sheetuf is the idea that there is an
independent creation or being (for example, an angel) that functions
independently of G-d. The Jewish people are commanded from the verse,
"Here O Israel, The L-rd our G-d, the L-rd is One," to believe and
accept the truth that there is no independent existence other than G-d.
Everything "else" is created and truly is only functioning according to
G-d's decree, like an axe in the hand of a woodcutter. The exception is
a human being, who uniquely is given free will, and who is permitted by
G-d to function as he likes. But Gentiles are not commanded to reject
the concept of a sheetuf.
It seems from the Rebbe Maharash that Rambam also accepts this (this is
not explicitly said in the discourse), because this is from the
commandment "Hear O Israel..." (which Gentiles are not commanded), and
not from the commandment, "You shall not have for yourselves any other
gods before Me" (that is an obligation for Gentiles, from their Noahide
Commandment that prohibits idolatry).
The Rebbe Maharash nowhere says that a Gentile has permission to
worship some existence that he views as a sheetuf. And since the Rebbe
Maharash differentiates between something classed as a sheetuf as an
outcome of "Hear O Israel," vs. as an outcome of "You shall not have
for yourselves any other gods...," it is obvious that he also holds
that worshiping a sheetuf is idolatry. It is obvious that thinking that
an angel is independent does not force one to worship it. Therefore a
Gentile who worships any sheetuf is liable for transgressing the
Noahide prohibition of idolatry. One who thinks or believes that such
worship is a worthy conduct, even though he does not actualy worship
the sheetuf, is wrong, and in my understanding of Rambam, Laws
of Repentence
3:7, he is a heretic (a "min" in Hebrew).
Note: mankind is even forbidden to worship people, who have the unique
quality among the creations of having free will, which even angels do
not have. Even one's parents, who one is obligated to honor (who are
free-will "partners" with G-d in the conception of a child), as the
Rebbe Maharash explains in the discourse, are not classed as a special
type of sheetuf that one would be permitted to worship, G-d forbid.

Ten Steps to Being your Best: A practical

Lacking
a sense of self-worth can make you sometimes feel despondent. What
really worked for me is the book "Ten Steps to Being Your Best“ by
Rabbi Dr. Abraham J. Twerski. Rabbi Twerski's work is not only a book;
it's a PRACTICAL HANDBOOK to enhance your life in every way. It directs
you to keep at hand a personal diary in your pocket, where you jot down
particular thoughts and anxieties of your own - as categorized in the
book - 2 to 3 times a day. You'll review them in the afternoon. You
will start to see them in a new light and advance your sense of
self-worth. I went on to realize that the "AHA!“-experiences that my
diary provided on an ongoing basis constituted peak-experiences within
my otherwise normal day. Now I have a feeling of constantly improving
my life. Most important: I'm now happy, I feel joy. We all have the
right to a positive self-image. You have a right to be happy, the
feeling of being worthy, deserving, entitled to your needs and wants,
and to enjoy the fruits of your efforts. "Ten Steps to Being Your Best“
guides you through the process of deleting your "negative script“ from
your mind and replacing it with a new and improved positive self-image.
And it definitely worked for me.

educate Jews about the need to prepare themselves for the imminent
beginning of the Messianic Era, but it will give everyone a very good
introduction to the Torah-true way of thinking about Mashiach as a
long-awaited reality that G-d will soon be revealing to the world. The
book is very easy to read.

Kindness: Changing People's Lives for the Better

Review
by D. L. bas Noah:
"Kindness," by Rabbi Zelig Pliskin, is a
candid, relevant and valuable life-changing book. This definitive and
honest book teaches examples and problem solving for things that
EVERYONE encounters. It is not a lot of high-sounding words that one
would read and then immediately forget all about. Instead, it gives a
great amount of practical and vital help, and much of it addresses what
is needed in present personal relationships and in NEW ones. "Kindness"
is a book that is beneficial to ANY person and is Torah compatible. It
is spiritually elevating and helps us to fulfill our mission. You will
want to refer to it again and again, because it teaches how being kind
to others is really also being kind to yourself, and there is a
universal "ripple" effect. You can't read "Kindness" and not be
changed, as long as you have a least a small sensitivity and desire in
this direction. I am definitely keeping my copy of "Kindness" because
it is so full of information that I absolutely need for doing a lot of
good in the world. This will certainly increase my own happiness, as
well as helping me to do my part to get myself and others ready for
Moshiach, may he be revealed speedily in our days.

THE TOP-RATED CHILDREN'S BOOK FOR THE 7 NOAHIDE COMMANDMENTS!
The Colorful Rainbow Dream
by
Dr. Daphne M. Cohen
Recommended
for children of ages 7-12
Review
by D. L. bas Noah:
I
just received the book, "The Colorful Rainbow Dream" last night and
read it immediately. I loved it. It was very professionally done. The
words in the different rainbow colors now make it more significant when
we really see a rainbow. It is a positive book all the way around. I
appreciate its Torah accuracy. I didn't get bored at all reading it. It
is a keeper. Also, I am so happy to say that it is a book that even a
very observant Jew (layperson or Rabbi) wouldn't want to reject from
his or her book collection. It isn't just for Noahides at all, but for
everyone. And that makes me happy, because as regards to the messages
of the seven laws, they are for everyone. My grandtwins will be coming
to my house in two weeks, and I will have them read it (they are almost
10 years old), or I will read it to them. The book is wonderful!
Review
by Catherine Waters OP, Phd, Associate Professor, Counseling Psychology
and Licensed Psychologist, Caldwell College:
"In
this delightful story of how three young children travel in a shared
dream with their wise grandfather, Dr. Daphne Cohen presents the
sophisticated mandates of the Noahide Code in a manner that is not only
understandable, but intriguing, even amazing. The four travelers visit
each of the world's continents, and on every stop they encounter one of
the laws that G-d gave to Noah. The children see the laws come to life
in the experiences of the people and other creatures that they
encounter, thus learning these important lessons with the guidance of
their grandfather, and by actually participating in helping others to
learn the laws too. The simplicity of the fantasy is deceptive. There
is deep truth in this slim volume, presented in a way that will be
enchanting to young readers and to their caregivers. The challenge of
passing on important traditions has just been made a bit easier."
Review
by Dr. M. Schulman, Director of Ask Noah International, United Noahide
Academies, and AskNoah.org:
"The special significance of this children's
book is the artful way that the fundamental principles of faith are
interwoven into the dialogue and the clever illustrations of the
Noahide Code."

A really good question: surprising answers to
some interesting questions
by M. Kenan
(distributed by Feldheim)*
Reviewed
by L. T. bas Noah
This
book is an adolescent browser's paradise which captures the reader with
181 engaging questions about the world we live in, with photos and fun
illustrations accompanying each of the simple, one-to-three-paragraph
answers. Most of the questions relate to scientific topics, such as
Question 41: "What causes oil to burn?" and Question 156: "What is
Radar?" Some delve into history: Question 24: "What was the Boer War?
And who were the Boers?" Question 16: "Who invented the first postage
stamp and when?" Question 141: "When were books chained to desk and
shelves, and when did this practice end?"
In many cases, the author phrases questions to highlight unexpected
aspects of familiar objects or phenomena: Question 57: "Can flowers
tell time?" Question 76: "Are babies born without teeth?" Question 117:
"What connection is there between elephants and plastics?"
While targeted toward juvenile readers with a solid vocabulary and some
prior knowledge, the book may also appeal to younger children,
listening as questions and answers are read, while they examine the
many thoughtfully selected images accompanying each topic. Even adults
will likely discover many new things. (For instance, did you know that
the first toothbrush was invented by the Chinese, and that unlike
frogs, toads have no teeth?)
Parents will be pleased to find, sparsely sprinkled throughout the book
in subtle but significant ways, affirmations of Torah values. For
instance, Question 45 asks: "Why do we breathe heavily after jogging or
running?" At the end of the three-paragraph answer, the author
includes: "Thanks to Hashem's mercy, the pace of our breathing becomes
normal again after a few minutes have passed." Refreshingly absent are
unscientific conjectures about "evolution" and the age of the universe.
Thus this wide-ranging book is meant to, and does, stimulate not only
curiosity, but also awe at the intricacy, beauty and interconnectedness
present throughout all of G-d's
creation. Its true spirit may be best represented by closing statements
in the answer given to Question 35 ("How does yeast make dough rise?"):
"What an amazing process! What a wonderful world Hashem [G-d] has
created!"
*Note: This review only
serves as a recommendation for the above titled book. A second volume
was subsequently produced by the author.

The Key Under the Pillow: a Story about
Honoring Parents
by Leah Shollar
pub. Hachai Publishing
Suggested
for ages 3-6. This new book is a beautifully illustrated retelling of a
famous story from the Talmud, about a Noahide in ancient Israel who
exemplified the ideal of honoring parents. Dama the gem merchant passed
up the opportunity to earn a fortune, when it would have required that
he compromise in his respect for his father. Although the Seven Noahide
Commandments do not include a commandment to honor parents, starting
from the children of Adam and Hava all peoples of the world
distinguished themselves by accepting this as a righteous obligation.
As a message to all mankind, G-d rewarded Dama in a surprising and
miraculous way!
