Torah academy of Shem (Malchizedek)
#1
Shalom!
I have a question--
Who were the students of the Torah academy of Shem and Eber, and did they, (other than Abraham), have any effect on the world, and did their lineage continue?
Thanks a lot!

When Jacob ran away from his brother Esau, for the first 14 years he concealed himself and learned in the academy of Shem and Eber (see Rashi's explanation on Gen. 35:29). Everything he learned there he taught to his son Joseph (see Rashi's explanation on Gen. 37:3). Also, when Rebecca (Rivka) was distraught about the pain of her pregnancy with the twins Jacob and Esau, she went to the academy Shem and Eber to ask what the outcome would be. Shem answered her through prophecy (see Gen. 25:22-23 and the explanation of Rashi).

Malchizedek, the righteous king of Salem (later named Jerusalem), was Shem, the son of Noah. He brought bread and wine to Abram (Avraham), after Abram and his men killed the armies of the four kings and rescued Lot. Shem made this gesture to let Abram know that his military action against the maruading armies (who were Shem's descendants) was justified within the scope of the Seven Noahide Laws. (See Genesis 14:14-20.)
